Putting in the Atwood hot water heater

So today we took the plunge and put in the Atwood hot water heater.  We had purchased it last year from Vintage Trailer Supply and we bought the economical version on the principle of KISS which hopefully means by Keeping It Simple Stupid there will be less parts to break!

We actually placed it where are furnace was, which is under our kitchen sink.  Our trailer had an electric hot water heater as well as an electric refrigerator (original) so there were no holes in the trailer in those areas.

We rimmed the entire lip with butyl tape

Generous dose of vulkem was used.  We HATE leaks!

We at least remembered to polish the edges before placing the Atwood
The installation seemed suspiciously easy.  We predrilled the aluminum shell with 1/8 inch drill bit for the #8 3/4 inch stainless steel screws.  We used both butyl tape around the edges as well as a generous dose of vulkem.

We had previously painted the white Atwood door a silver color to help blend it in.  Not perfect but good for now.  We may try to replace it with an aluminum one later!
