More bathroom photos

Bathroom vanity was finally fixed into place with the plumbing installed

Replaced the faucet since the other one had so much corrosion it was not salvageable.

Notice the Hepvo drain/trap to save space

Placed the upper bathroom cabinet in...still have not decided on light fixtures.

Finalizing the finish on the resurfaced vanity

Camping at Lake Carmi

Yes the inner door is polished.  We love our jalousie windows

Kids in the group had an enormous raft to frolick on!

In the heat of the"Set Back" tournament.  Our daughter Hannah ended up taking the trophy home!!
Every year we camp for 4 days at Lake Carmi with a wonderful group of people!  We swim, canoe, have a card tournament with a game called "Set Back" which is frighteningly competitve, and drink way too much beer.  This year was memorable since for it was our MAIDEN outing with our trailer.  Yes, we still have no refrigerator or stove, and there was only running water to our bathroom sink which was not heated, and our propane lines are not in, but it was FABULOUS.   No more tenting for us. Period. THE END.    We took too few photos primarily because we were having too much fun!!

Plumb tired

So we tackled the PEX plumbing and it wasn't as bad as we thought.  Fortunately my office manager's husband is a plumber and with a quick lesson and a gracious borrowing of his tools I was able to plumb our trailer.  Yes I made lots of mistakes but PEX is very forgiving.  Except for wasting a few extra clamps and the fact I had a 100 feet of both red and blue line which gave me plenty of wiggle room we were good to go!  No leaks the first time we tested.  That was pretty awesome!

Pierre our plumber did help us with the copper to pex connections at the tub and the water heater

Connections were tricky around the tub in the rear of the trailer

How Reinergirl saved my bathroom vanity

So my dearest sister Reinergirl took pity on our poor ramshackle bathroom vanity and whisked it away to her magic kingdom to do some restoration on it!  Don't you just love sisters/magic fairies!

This is a before shot.  Note the mismatched added cabinet.  Plus since we are not going to have a black tank we were going to have a giant hole to the left as well!
I though she was going to just glue on a piece of veneered red oak but no no no  ...she was able to pry it off!

So she yanked the whole front off!

And then she noticed that the shelf was disgusting as well so she got rid of  that too!

This is a side view of the contact papered piece that was adjacent to the bathtub.  Yup.. she yanked that off!

So here we have the poor pathetic skeleton of the bathroom vanity.  You would think Reinergirl would be stressed by this but you evidently DO NOT KNOW my sister.  She is supergirl!

Rebuilding begins

What have we here... a nice maple shelf to replace the yucky one.

I have no idea what this is or what she is doing!

Cutting out the side section

This is the router she forced me to use to help her!

Glueing it together

Router does an awesome job

After alot of trial and error we discovered a mixture of 3 coats golden oak Minwax mixed with 1 coat golden pecan was the closest match.

Putting in the Atwood hot water heater

So today we took the plunge and put in the Atwood hot water heater.  We had purchased it last year from Vintage Trailer Supply and we bought the economical version on the principle of KISS which hopefully means by Keeping It Simple Stupid there will be less parts to break!

We actually placed it where are furnace was, which is under our kitchen sink.  Our trailer had an electric hot water heater as well as an electric refrigerator (original) so there were no holes in the trailer in those areas.

We rimmed the entire lip with butyl tape

Generous dose of vulkem was used.  We HATE leaks!

We at least remembered to polish the edges before placing the Atwood
The installation seemed suspiciously easy.  We predrilled the aluminum shell with 1/8 inch drill bit for the #8 3/4 inch stainless steel screws.  We used both butyl tape around the edges as well as a generous dose of vulkem.

We had previously painted the white Atwood door a silver color to help blend it in.  Not perfect but good for now.  We may try to replace it with an aluminum one later!

Redoing the screens

Now that summer is upon and and camping is looming, it is imperative that we get the screens redone and functional.  We have our fair share of biting insects here in Vermont and I want try my hardest not to feed the active insect population with our blood!   My sister (Reinergirl on Airforums) showed me how to rescreen them in about 6 seconds so it was a total snap.  We semi-polished the frames just to get the serious oxidation off, washed them with soapy water, and BAM screened them.  NO MORE BUGS in the traylah!     PS  We first used mothers's polish which frankly did not work well, then switched to a 3M rubbing compound which was much better. Mind you it left a shiny burnished finish so if you are looking for a mirrored finish do not use this but we are totally happy!

Progressive Dynamics installation

After installing the formica covered closet wall, we cut out a spot for the converter.  The body of the converter sticks into the closet.   The floor of the closet will house the batteries but we can't quite figure out how to vent them yet!
